I scored Carioca for tuba and full orchestral accompaniment by adapting a stage band (standard bigband) arrangement by E. Th. Kalke. I have no one’s permission to do so, but feel fairly safe offering it as a performance piece, based on the popularity (or lack of it) of tuba solo features with orchestra. It’s a real tour-de-force for the soloist, and a fun turn to “pop” rhythms and jazz figures for the orchestra.

 

I have no live recording of this piece, so the mp3 is a FINALE extraction - the sound isn’t particularly satisfying but it certainly gives you a good idea of how the piece goes.
