In den Bergen (in the mountains) is a traditional marching (or drinking) song - typical of what are called “Kneipenlieder.” A “Kneipe” is a small neighborhood bar where much local frivolity is to be had. And while it is technically a march, it works very well as a polka as well.

As with all of these Octoberfest Dances, everyone gets major time with the melody, there are interesting countermelodies and challenging “end-of-phrase” licks — and it is very danceable.

In den Bergen is published by the Cimarron Music Press and can be ordered here: http://www.cimarronmusic.com/carols-for-brass-set-1282

The mP3 audio is from my CD, The Ball Pin Duo salutes “The Captain” and can be ordered from my CD recordings page
