3 Def Cats

 

3 Def Cats opens with an upbeat, minor key version of ”Three Blind Mice.”  It’s a fun, easy chart with some slightly unusual chord changes for the rides.  As with most of the Rudy Volkmann Sextet Book charts, it’s a “head chart:” play the head, assign solos, return to the head to end.

 

Scored (as all the sextets are) for Bb Trumpet, Alto Sax, Trombone, and rhythm section.
