Unchained melody

 

I scored Unchained Melody as a solo spot for my my friend Fabio Mann, trumpet extraordinaire, and the Augusta Jazz Project. The other parts themselves aren’t particularly difficult, but the screech trumpet goes to a high G, and it helps to have a soulful sax player. I wrote out the first 8 bars of the solo to set the tone/mood.

 

Scored for five trumpets, four trombones, 5 saxes, and rhythm section.

 

I have permission to release the music on my CDs, but if you want to actually perform it you will have to get performance permission from the Harry Fox Agency (an inexpensive formality involving filling out a form).
